Winnipeg doesn't let you be soft. The winters are brutal, the city has an edge to it, and somewhere along the way I think I absorbed all of that — for better or worse. Growing up here made me independent out of necessity and bold out of stubbornness, and honestly I wouldn't change either one. It shaped the version of me that shows up everywhere I go: dark hair, dark eyes, and zero interest in pretending to be someone I'm not.
